Charting is one of those tasks where every dentist has a different method, and every method takes a little too long.
Start with the upper right quadrant
FDI numbering ascends naturally from 18 to 28. If you always start from 18 and move clockwise, you train your eye to scan in the same direction every time.
Default to "intact" and only mark exceptions
Most teeth on most patients are healthy. Marking only the exceptions is faster than marking every tooth.
